Description
This is the story of Selo and Tefe, an elderly couple navigating the end-of-life stages on the southeastern fringe of the Muscogee (Creek) Reservation in Oklahoma. The novel takes place in the mid-1990s, a time of significant cultural and governmental change for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and its tribal town communities.
Rosemary McCombs Maxey is a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and the lives near Dustin, Oklahoma, where she was born and raised. Rosemary served as an ordained clergy person throughout her career and has taught religious studies and Mvskoke language at various colleges and seminaries. Rosemary now lives on her farm, rasing chickens and cattle, quilting, and serving as a Master Language teacher with the College of the Muscogee Nation.
