About the Artist:
Karen Weatherholt has been involved in the arts for the past 40 years; sewing, quiltmaking, photography, candle making and gourd burning to name a few. In the last 7 years Karen has been studying and practicing painting and art making through online courses, workshops, books and art retreats. The learning bug never stops for Karen; her attitude is “So much to learn, so little time!”
With her appetite for learning, she started art journaling and loved it so much that she decided to try working bigger. She does a variety of art as well as small and large paintings on any surface she can find. Rather than limiting herself to just paint, she fell in love with mark making and mixed media abstract art, using paint, oil pastels, inks, markers, pens and collage. Her goal is to inspire emotional reaction with her mark making and color choices.
Karen lives NE of Emporia with her husband, dog and her “Little Red Art Barn.”
